Volunteer Review

Flavia Cruciani – International Environmental Projects Assistant

FlaviaMy name is Flavia and I have been volunteering for Embrace for more than 2 months now. As an International Environmental Projects Assistant, I am planning and managing several international projects regarding different countries such as Ethiopia or Turkey. My job ranges from looking for funding opportunities to coordinating existing programs, and comprehends researching, proofreading, writing, contacting and so on. What I like about volunteering for Embrace is that I am gaining practical experience in project management, which is where I would like to direct my future career. Also, Embrace team has been welcoming and friendly from the very first moment, without lacking professionalism, making the time spent with Embrace valuable and significant at the same time.

Gary Suen - International Environmental Projects Assistant

garyHello! My name is Gary Suen. I am an Environmental Scientist. I am working behalf of Embrace as an International Environmental Project Assistant in more than two months now. This is a very challenging position for me from the beginning because this is my first time to work with Europeans and Africans in the office. After that, my confidence has been boost up as every day we have a lot of funny conversation in the office. Also, the director and general manger are both super nice to me. My job ranges from coordinating existing programmes, researching, writing, editing, contacting and so on. I am highly appreciated that I had an opportunity to participate in a professional exchange programme – ‘Building & Sustaining Low Carbon Economy’ in Suhl, Germany. It was a fantastic time to see why and how German is so far ahead to deal with their renewable energy as their energy mix. In overall, I think it is lovely time for me to spend in such an wonderful international organisation, all I have to mention is Embrace can improve my project management, written, verbal and communication skills at all the time.

Theresa Fuhrmann– International Environmental Projects Assistant

TheresaMy name is Theresa and I am a volunteer from Germany. I am currently doing my master´s degree in International Relations and Development Policy and I stay at Embrace for the period of two months. This volunteer position allows me to get a practical insight into the topics of international project management, environmental awareness rising, environmental learning and research, for example in the field of sustainable farming. The time I spend here is a great opportunity for me to find out more about different areas to work in after my studies, to enlarge my skills and knowledge and to get in touch with various inspiring people.

Martina Lagatta – International Environmental Projects Assistant

MartinaHi there, I’m Martina and I’m from Italy. I’m an international development professional and I moved to London in January 2015. Since February, I joined Embrace as “Volunteer- International Project Development Assistant” and I’m helping the organisation with social and economic research and seeking of new funding opportunities from large donors. I like this place because you feel like you’re home. Embrace it’s like a big international family where you feel supported and appreciated. Here I have been offered the opportunity to attend trainings on personal development, I gained new skills that I wasn’t event conscious to have and I feel realized because I contribute to reach important goals able to positively change others’ lives.
